Introduction to the Home Renovation Savings™ Program

The Home Renovation Savings™ Program, launched by Enbridge Gas on January 28th, 2025 in collaboration with the Ontario government, is designed to encourage residents to make energy-efficient improvements to their homes. The program exemplifies a significant commitment to promoting energy conservation and addressing rising energy costs that affect households across the province. Through this initiative, homeowners are provided with financial incentives that aid in retrofitting their residences to enhance overall energy efficiency.

By participating in the Home Renovation Savings™ Program, homeowners have the opportunity to implement various upgrades, such as improved insulation, high-efficiency HVAC systems, and energy-efficient windows and doors. These improvements not only contribute to lower utility expenses but also foster a more comfortable living environment, ensuring that homes remain cozy throughout the different seasons.

Getting Started : Home Energy Assessment

Start with an initial home energy assessment, then complete at least two energy-saving upgrades to qualify for rebates.^†

$600 Rebate : Home Energy Assessment

For qualifying upgrades, an initial home energy assessment is required before beginning any work. Ottawa Energy Advisor will assess your home and uncover energy-saving opportunities. To offset the cost of the initial and follow-up home energy assessments, you will receive a $600 rebate after successful completion of the program. Where an owner has tenants, the owner must apply.

NRCan Registered Energy Advisor

Ottawa Energy Advisor has been doing energy assessments since 2008 and has completed well over 5000 homes in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

EnerGuide Home Evaluation

The EnerGuide evaluation ( also known as a Home Energy Audit or Assessment ) is carried out by an energy advisor who is registered with Natural Resources Canada.

Greener Homes Loan

If you are planning to do any renovations related to home energy improvements, you should absolutely look into the 0% interest free loan up to $40,000.

The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers 0% interest-free financing to help Canadians make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable.

The loan can help you finance eligible retrofits that are recommended by an energy advisor and that have not yet been started.

To be eligible, participants must undergo a pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, and the loan must be used for qualifying projects that improve home energy efficiency.

IMPORTANT: You should not start any retrofit work before your loan application has been submitted. Any retrofits started before submitting your loan application are ineligible.
